- Pumpkin Puree
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Pie Spice
- Vanilla Extract or Paste
- Maple syrup
- Water
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
In a small saucepan combine pumpkin puree, vanilla bean paste, pumpkin pie spice, Cinnamon, maple syrup and water.
Bring mixture to a boil and then let simmer for about twenty minutes until the mixture has thickened enough that a spoon dipped in comes out coated. Be sure to stir frequently to avoid the mixture from burning or caramelizing.
Tip: Pour the mixture directly into glass jars to let cool, and clean your sauce pan immediately. This will insure that the candy like consistency doesn't get stuck to your pan.
Substitutions
This recipe is dairy free, but if you don't have dietary restrictions pertaining to dairy I recommend you try this variation as well!
- Sweetened condensed milk - instead of maple syrup you can use sweetened and condensed milk which will give the sauce a very creamy and decadent texture.
Equipment
To make this pumpkin spice syrup you only need a small sauce pan and glass mason jars with lids. My favorite jars for this syrup are linked below.
Storage
Store your pumpkin spice sauce in the refrigerator for up to a week... if it lasts that long!
